Following the Expression of Interest (EOI) process, we have now moved into the next and final stage of transitioning to a strong, sustainable successor organisation taking over the youth provision at the centre.

Background: Earlier this year, the Board of Trustees of the Samuel Lithgow Youth Centre (SLYC) identified that due to an increasingly limited operational runway and significant long-term building maintenance costs, the charity could no longer sustain direct delivery of its services independently. To protect the vital provision for the neighborhood, the Board, working in partnership with Camden Council, launched a structured Expression of Interest (EOI) process to find a strong, sustainable successor organisation to take over the youth provision at the centre.

Current position: Following this process – which included valuable input and review from community members and sessional workers during sessions on 30th April and 11th May – Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA) has been identified as the preferred organisation to lead the next phase of youth provision at SLYC.

FYA will now work alongside the current Board, Camden Council, Youth Services, sessional staff and community representatives to support a managed transition and help secure a sustainable future for the centre.

Operational Continuity: Importantly, after-school provision will continue throughout June while transition planning and operational due diligence take place. To ensure a seamless experience for our young people, the FYA team is already on the ground at SLYC, working closely with our existing sessional staff to co-facilitate and co-deliver these current sessions.

Our Commitment: The priority remains to secure a sustainable, high-quality future for youth provision, ensuring the centre continues to serve young people and the wider community.
