Volunteering

 VOLUNTEERING

SLYC works primarily with young people, so most volunteers are interested in working with this age group as they are often thinking in following up a career in this area of work. Volunteers are required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) before they start working at SLYC. SLYC provides induction sessions for volunteers, and training needs are identified through discussion between the volunteer and her/his supervisor. Volunteers are asked to read and confirm in writing that they are fully aware of our Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities Policies. Whenever it is affordable, SLYC offers paid training. Long-term volunteers are asked to sign a contract agreeing to the terms on offer by us. SLYC employed 14 volunteers in 2016.
